What Is My Lifestyle-What Dog Should I Choose?

The decision to add a dog to the family unit is one that revolves around his basic needs of food, shelter, exercise, grooming, health care and companionship. You are making a commitment of time, money and long-term responsibility, compatible with your “lifestyle”. And thereby hangs a tail. By taking a number of factors into account the right breed or type of dog can be determined by you. This is so important to avoid and prevent another pet ending up in an animal shelter, through no fault of his own. Knowing your own needs and lifestyle can go far to helping you make the most informed decision for you and your family.

Some of the questions you might ask could have to do with the energy level of a dog. Is he laid-back, or does he require lots of exercise and playtime? Are you looking for a lap dog, or one less inclined to be a snuggler? Do you want a pet good with children and other pets? Is it critical to choose a hypoallergenic breed? A consideration could be if the neighborhood is a safe and convenient place to walk a dog, especially if you do not own a car, or if the dog you prefer would be a good jogging or biking companion. If you live in a hot, humid climate, you would probably not end up with a dog that only fares well in an extremely cold climate. It is easier to choose a dog that can adapt to almost any climate by adding outer clothing in cold weather and keeping him warm indoors.

You may be seeking a good watchdog (many breeds can qualify here), but if you need a guard dog, that narrows the field to some larger breeds, some fairly aggressive in nature. And consider again, as you narrow the field, any physical limitations you might have that could come into play. Reflect on your own needs and those of the dog you might like to adopt. Perhaps it is a smaller dog that would be more suited to your lifestyle. This would require less from you to give your pet proper care and attention. In this instance, veterinarian recommended Puppy Stairs and pet rampsare ideal for helping your furry friend (of any size) to rise to the occasion, as he reaches his favorite place on the sofa next to you, or joins you in bed; either way you are able to avoid lifting him and carrying him around. These units, as sturdy and lightweight as they are, can be moved around as needed.
