Low Maintenance, Small and Easy To Love
These breeds are primarily easy to groom and are low shedders for those whose allergies could use a little break.
The Bichon Frise is a small, sturdy, white, fluffy dog that sheds little. A basically healthy breed, he wants to be with you, showing off his happy personality with affection, intelligence and lots of energy. With calm, consistent leadership he is easy to train to bring out his best social and entertainment skills with his people.
The Bolognese, on the other hand, is not particularly high energy and a little more serious in nature, but with a happy, playful disposition. He is a small, stocky, compact dog with a long, fluffy, pure white coat, also a low shedder. This is a dog that enjoys other pets, older children and other people, even strangers, when properly introduced. They train well and are obedient.
The Chihuahua is the smallest of small breeds, tiny and toy-sized, with short or long hair. His walks are needed for his mental and physical stimulation. These dogs are good companions, but not usually for children. They are extremely lively, courageous and adventurous, thriving in warmer weather. They are intelligent, learning well in an environment, which fosters positive reinforcement and much affection.
The Glen of Imaal Terrier is a spirited, brave and devoted member of the family. He is also gentle and patient in his home, responding well to calm, assertive training and not well to harsh voices. His is a good breed with children. He knows how to sound the alert if a stranger is approaching, with only a warning bark. His low to the ground body with short legs can exhibit great determination.
The Miniature Poodle is a totally different breed, a joyful, comical and clever companion, whose high intelligence requires that his mind be occupied. They need to be socialized, are good with other dogs and pets and can make reasonably good watchdogs. These poodles love water, retrieving and active play. Their hair can be clipped for easy, low-maintenance care, with little shedding; this is good for those with allergies.
The Havanese (of the Bichon family) is good in apartments, but active outdoors, enjoying his daily walks and exercise. This small dog is also a good watchdog, alert and very sensitive to his human’s signals (words and gestures). They are easy to train to bark little. This beautiful, small dog is healthy and long-lived, and seems born to live in your home.
These special breeds are all a part of the families of friends and colleagues. They have all been introduced to Puppy Stairs and pet ramps to use with and for their beloved pets; some have been using them longer than others, but the word keeps spreading with our veterinarian’s recommendation.
